Nintendo Plans to Release Metroid Prime 2: Remastered on Switch in Early 2025

Recently, the well-known Nintendo leaker SamusHunter2 revealed on Twitter/X that Nintendo is planning to release Metroid Prime 2: Remastered for the Switch in early 2025. The game, originally scheduled for release in 2024, has been delayed multiple times and is now expected to launch in early 2025, potentially between the releases of Metroid Dread: Return HD and Xenoblade X: Definitive Edition. SamusHunter2 also mentioned that Nintendo’s approach to the three Metroid Prime games is quite unique, as the release times for these games are always a year after development is completed.

He stated that Nintendo could technically release Metroid Prime 2: Remastered and Metroid Prime 3: Remastered at any time. Although there is no concrete news at the moment, the leaker speculates that Nintendo might announce this at The Game Awards (TGA) on December 13, 2024, as the timing would be quite appropriate. Regarding whether Metroid Prime 2: Remastered and Metroid Prime 3: Remastered will be released as a bundle, SamusHunter2 said that the two games were originally planned to be released separately.

However, since the release window for Metroid Prime 2: Remastered has now overlapped with that of Metroid Prime 3: Remastered, the leaker speculates that they might be released individually on Nintendo eShop, while the physical editions could be launched as a bundle. He emphasized that although there is no definitive information to confirm this, he will continue to update fans with relevant information.

Previously, on the gaming show Last of the Nintendogs, industry insider Jeff Grubb also mentioned that Metroid Prime 2: Remastered will be released ‘soon’. According to Grubb, this remastered version will include modern control schemes and be presented in high-definition, but it may be slightly inferior in production quality compared to the meticulous polish given to Metroid Prime: Remastered by the development team.
