RTX 50 Series GDDR7 Memory Upgrade Details

The RTX 50 series will see a full upgrade to GDDR7 memory across the lineup, with varying frequencies. The fastest model is not the RTX 5090/5090D, but rather the second-tier RTX 5080. According to the latest leaks, the RTX 5080 will be equipped with 16GB GDDR7 at an effective frequency of 30GHz, which, although only half the capacity of the RTX 5090/5090D, is 2GHz faster in frequency. Coupled with a 256-bit bus width, the memory bandwidth of the RTX 5080 will be 960GB/s, which, of course, cannot compare with the RTX 5090/5090D with a 512-bit bus width, which boasts a bandwidth of up to 1792GB/s.

More interestingly, aside from the RTX 5080 standing out, all other models in the series have a unified equivalent memory frequency of 28GHz, including the entry-level RTX 5060. In fact, the memory frequencies of the RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 SUPER are the fastest in the RTX 40 series, with 22.4GHz and 23GHz respectively, while the highest for others is only 21GHz. Compared to the RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 SUPER, the bandwidth of the RTX 5080 will increase by 34% and 30% respectively.
