AMD Ryzen 5 9600X vs Intel Core i5 14600K: Performance Comparison

For mainstream gamers, AMD Ryzen 5 and Intel Core 5 are probably the most popular processor series. Currently, AMD Ryzen 5 9600X has a high reputation on the AMD side. This processor adopts TSMC 4nm process technology and Zen 5 architecture. On the Intel side, the latest mainstream-level processor is Core Ultra 5 245K. However, since its most suitable motherboard of the B860 series has not been launched yet, currently the Intel Core i5 14600K, which adopts Intel 7 (10nm) process technology and Raptor Lake architecture, still has a high reputation.

In terms of TDP, Intel Core i5-14600K is 125W, while AMD Ryzen 5 9600X is only 65W. Although the lower TDP of 9600X makes it have an excellent performance in terms of energy efficiency, it also limits the performance of this processor to a certain extent. Fortunately, AMD lifted the ban for it not long ago. In the new AGESA code, a 105W TDP mode is added for the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X processor, allowing players to freely switch to a more suitable TDP according to their actual needs.

This time, we use AMD Ryzen 5 9600X and Intel Core i5 14600K for a comparative actual measurement to see how much the performance of AMD Ryzen 5 9600X is improved when the 105W TDP is enabled, and in terms of gaming performance, which one is stronger between AMD Ryzen 5 9600X processor in default TDP and 105W TDP mode and Intel Core i5 14600K.
