According to Sina Technology, multiple sources have confirmed that Apple plans to adopt Metalens technology in the iPhone 17 Pro series to reduce the Face ID module, further decreasing the cutout area of the Dynamic Island. Leakers have created screen renderings of the iPhone 17 Pro based on current information. From the images, it is evident that compared to the existing iPhone 16 Pro series, the area of the Dynamic Island has been significantly reduced, marking the first time since the introduction of the Dynamic Island design in the iPhone 14 Pro that such a noticeable adjustment has been made to the front design.
Additionally, the new model will further narrow the bezels, presenting a stronger visual unity. This design direction is gradually approaching Steve Jobs’ vision of the ‘ideal phone’—a piece of ‘magic glass’ characterized by simplicity, thinness, and the absence of superfluous elements. Based on the current trend, Apple may gradually progress towards a single punch-hole, or even a punch-hole-free design in the future, but this process may require a longer time to complete. It is reported that the iPhone 17 Pro series will also see significant changes in the rear design. The new model will adopt a design that combines aluminum and glass, with the upper part made of aluminum and the lower part made of glass, to be compatible with wireless charging functions. Another noteworthy change is the reorganization of the iPhone 17 series’ product line. Apple will discontinue the existing Plus model, replacing it with a new iPhone 17 Air, which will join the standard, Pro, and Pro Max versions to form a new product lineup.
