BioWare’s latest work, Dragon Age 4: Shadowkeeper’s Guardian, was originally a highly anticipated game. However, its popularity quickly declined after its release. The game incorporates a large number of elements of diversity, equality, and inclusivity (DEI), but this has not been welcomed by most players. Instead, it has become the source of many controversies.
According to Youtube video blogger Smash JT, recently an insider revealed that Shadowkeeper’s Guardian has sold less than 1.5 million copies in nearly two months, far below the developer’s expected goal of selling 10 million copies in three months. This indicates that the game’s performance is very poor. BioWare seems to have set its expectations too high, as the game has not even reached 20% of the original sales target. Considering that the game took nearly a decade to develop and a large amount of resources were invested, the below-expected sales performance is clearly difficult to cover the development cost.
