Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 16GB to Debut in January 2025

According to wccftech, Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 16GB version graphics card is expected to become the first new-generation graphics card to hit the market in January 2025, followed by the flagship RTX 5090. The media learned from sources that RTX 5080 will be launched for the first time in January 2025, equipped with 16GB GDDR7 memory and a video memory speed of up to 32 Gbps. Such a release strategy is different from previous years.

For example, in the previous generation of graphics cards, RTX 4090 was the first product to come out. This strategic shift attracts attention. The media believes that this adjustment may be closely related to the huge success of RTX 4090 in the previous generation of graphics cards. RTX 4090 not only achieved a leap in performance but also became the first choice for high-end players to upgrade their equipment.

However, RTX 4080 was relatively unpopular due to its low cost performance. It was not until the release of the SUPER version a year later that the situation was slightly reversed. Therefore, Nvidia may hope to attract more players seeking performance upgrades by letting RTX 5080 be listed first while ensuring the high-end market positioning of the RTX 5090 graphics card. According to the news, RTX 5090 and RTX 5090D will appear within a few weeks after the release of RTX 5080, and may appear at the latest in mid-February.

Previous leaks mentioned that in addition to the 16GB version, RTX 5080 will also launch a version with 24GB of video memory.
