Quixel’s Dark Ruins Tech Demo Showcases Unreal Engine 5.5 Capabilities

According to dsogaming, Quixel has recently released a brand new tech demo called Dark Ruins, based on Unreal Engine 5.5, showcasing stunning environment construction capabilities. The demo includes 372 unique models, 12 unique decals, and 12 materials, fully supporting Lumen, Nanite, and compatible with MegaLights technology.
MegaLights technology is a new feature in Unreal Engine 5.5 that allows for the use of a large number of area lighting and ray-traced shadows while maintaining good performance optimization.

A YouTuber has conducted a detailed comparison between the MegaLights version and the software Lumen and hardware Lumen versions. The results show that the MegaLights version has up to a 50% performance improvement and significantly increases frame rate performance without compromising image quality. This makes it one of the most important new features in UE5.5 and provides game development with more efficient tools.
